? What is an ARC?
ARC stands for Alien Registration Card.
It is an official ID card issued to foreigners who plan to stay in Korea for more than 90 days.
? Do I Need an ARC to Rent a Property?
Not necessarily.
You can often rent a property in Korea without an ARC, especially if you have recently arrived in Korea.
If you do not have an ARC yet, many landlords and real estate agency will allow you to sign the lease using your passport or valid visa, and you can provide your ARC information later after it has been issued.
Requirements may vary depending on the landlord, the property, and your visa status.
? Can I Rent Before Receiving My ARC?
Yes.
Many foreigners rent a property before receiving their ARC.
Once your ARC is issued, you can simply provide the updated information to your landlord if needed.
? Can I Register My Address?
If you plan to stay in Korea for an extended period, you may need to register your address after moving in.
However, not every property is eligible for address registration.
In general, residential properties, such as apartments, villas, and residential officetels, can be used for address registration. On the other hand, commercial (office-use) properties are generally not eligible for address registration.
If obtaining an Alien Registration Card (ARC) or registering your address is important for your stay in Korea, be sure to confirm that the property allows address registration before signing the lease.
If you are unsure, we can help you verify whether the property is eligible for address registration.
